I am fascinated by this stuff and I learn so much in this forum.
Also Mr. Dillion, I should point out that Anthony Rushing has some letters concerning the sinking of the Okaw Belle on the White River with members of Company B, 30th/25th Ark. These letters show also the loving care afforded some soldiers when they died far away from home.
Anthony recently pointed me toward another letter regarding the action at Murfreesboro that resulted in the death of Capt. Thomas of Company C. of the 25th (my GGrandpa's company). Go to Stone River National Park website and look for the "Garner Letter". It's well worth the effort.
