Thank you for the information and the greeting regarding my return home. I have been looking through my Lawrence County Historical Quarterlies, and found one of the two references of the School being informally dismissed to see the Union soldiers riding through Smithville. J.N. Hillhouse was the teacher at the time. I have yet to find the one with the description of the horses, men flags and equipment but will find it.

In regard to Ronda Kohl's query regarding my information regarding the KIA of the Smithville Skirmish, I researched my sources, though I am still trying to locate my misplaced folder of union operations in Lawrence County Arkansas, I did locate my primary/orginal source regarding the Casualties of the Smithville Skirmish as reported in my article. My source is located in the "Chronological Summary" on page 10 of the "Annuals of the Army of The Tennessee and Early Western History" Volume I April-December 1878. It is a reprint by The Guild Bindery Press "Tennessee Regimental Series".
I have found out additional information/sources on Wiley C. Jones, the Confederate commander of a company in Coleman's Regiment since writing the article. I have inquired to Bryan Howerton and others regarding additional resources to sort out the descrepancy. Rhonda is probably right my quoted Union casualty list is in error, but I am
going to complete a more thorough research before revising my research.

The JP Mann diary regarding the October 24 1862 Ambush of the 5th Illinois forage train in Independence County Arkansas makes some interesting reading. I will share that information when I find it.
