Gil, one of the elements of my Arkansas Confederate database is postwar information, whenever I can find it. After I transcribed all the CSR, pension, and other information, I began doing searches in whatever resources I could find. It's amazing where some of those old Rebs ended up -- Arizona, California, Oregon, etc., and even back east. But I came up with snake-eyes as far Captain Hughey is concerned. The last non-military record of him I could find was the 1860 Lafayette County census. I have no idea what happened to him after the war. I've checked Miller County, Arkansas, and Bowie County, Texas, to cover both sides of Texarkana, but found zip.

It just occurred to me that it might be worthwhile to check Shreveport, Louisiana. It's the closest city to where he lived before the war, so maybe he set up his law offices there after the war. If I find anything out about Captain Hughey, I'll be sure to post it here.
