According to Merrill Pence's work on Dawson 19th Arkansas some 668 men of the 19th Arkansas were surrendered at Arkansas Post. If you add the 428 men of the 19th to this number you are pushing a total regimental strenght at almost 1,100 men. Quite a large regiment for that time concidereing it had been ordered to reorganize and one of it's companies had been detached under special order No. 31 to form part of the 24th Arkansas.

So I am wondering if somthing else was not going on.
