Re: 11th Arkansas Infantry, died at New Madrid

SallyJo,

More than likely there in Missouri. In all my research on the 11th Arkansas I have not found anything showing families coming to New Madrid to recover bodies. I have not found any info on burial location for those who died there but probably in close proximity to Ft Thompson and if they were buried towards the river may have even been lost to river channel changes. I have been to the location of where Ft Thompson was supposed to have been located and it was on flat ground close to the river. Wish I could tell you with more certainty. Hopefully someone from the New Madrid area might be able to assist. I know they have a museum there but I have not checked with them yet.

Anthony
