Re: 2nd Arkansas, Co. C to George and Bryan

Bryan:
Hoping that his message reaches you. I've never really communicated with folks through this medium; but here goes. I read with interest your remarks, and others on the "thread," regarding the Second Arkansas Mounted Rifles. My great-great grandfather, James Monroe Park, served as 1st Corporal in Company G of that regiment. Interestingly, one of my cousins, through marriage, was Wesley Thurman Leeper, author of "Rebels Valiant," and grandson of John Wesley Leeper who was a Company G "messmate" of my great-great-grandfather. I maintained a delightful correspondence on family genealogy with Thurman during the 1970's and one of my prized possessions is a personalized copy of his book. It has been a great source to me as I gather details on the 2nd Arkansas from Wilson's Creek to their surrender at Greensboro. Just wanted to let you know that their are other descendants of the 2nd out there.
Best regards,
Steve
