Thurman's book is a valued part of my Civil War library. Not only it is a good, detailed account of the 2nd Arkansas Mounted Rifles (with many references to Dawson's 19th Arkansas Infantry) but it is a thoroughly enjoyable read, because Thurman's love of the subject shows through so clearly. It's obvious that he enjoyed researching and writing the book.
