Mark,

Washington Paschal Ayres was born in 1850 in Lumpkin County, Georgia, and was living in Hot Spring County when the war started. He applied for a Confederate pension from Pulaski County in 1914, in which he claimed to have served as a courier in the Quartermaster Department under Maj. W. H. Haynes in 1863, when he was about 13 years old. He died at Hot Springs in 1925, and is interred in Mount Holly Cemetery at Little Rock. Since he was not a regularly enlisted Confederate soldier, he is not carried on the rolls of any regiment.
