Re: Chronister, Co. C-32 Ark Inf, CSA &Co.C-Ford's

Cynthia,

J. A. Chronister and Adam Chronister are one and the same. Another researcher informed me several years ago that his name was Jeff A. Chronister. I think he said he got that from a Jackson County marriage book. Many men from Jackson County, including several from the 32nd Arkansas, later served in Ford's Battalion Missouri Cavalry. J. Adam Chronister enlisted in Co. C, Ford's Battalion, in Jackson County on August 27, 1864.

Camp Cache was located near Augusta. Camp Texas was located near Little Rock.

The list of Families of Indigent Soldiers in Jackson County states that the family J. A. Cronister [sic] was entered on the roll on March 4, 1863, and consisted of Nancy Cronister, age 23, wife; Wm. Cronister, age 9, son; and unnamed child, age 6 months. J. A. Chronister's status was listed as "in service in Matlock's regiment".

I hope this helps.
