Do you mean Daniel Columbus McDonald, of Hot Spring County? He's the only D. C. McDonald carried on the rolls of that regiment.

He enlisted in Co. C, 11th Arkansas Infantry, at Rockport, Arkansas, on July 9, 1861; was mustered into Confederate service with his company at Camp Hardee, Benton, Arkansas, on July 17, 1861, for twelve months; was captured at Island No. 10, on April 8, 1862, and sent to Camp Butler, Springfield, Illinois, where he escaped from prison on June 11, 1862. He reportedly deserted on June 12, 1863.

He then enlisted in Co. F, 4th Arkansas Cavalry, U.S. Volunteers, at Little Rock, Arkansas, on March 23, 1864, for three years. He was reported as deserter on August 31, 1864. The descriptive roll describes him as a farmer, age 23, born in Montgomery County, North Carolina, eyes blue, hair dark, complexion fair, height 5'11".

There is no record of either a Confederate or Union pension application from him or his wife.

He is buried in Fourche Loupe Cemetery, Garland County, Arkansas [1840-1878].
