Lawhon

There is a story my late husband's family told about a Confederate soldier named Lawhon. My husband's grandfather, Henry Lankford, was in his early teens and always said, if the war would have lasted another year, he would have been able to join the Confederate Army. He was fishing in McJunkins Branch in Izard County (could be Fulton County at the time), near Franklin, Arkansas. He heard horses running and breaking brush. He hid in the fence row and a Confederate soldier came running and when the soldier was in mid-stream, Union soldiers on horseback came behind him and shot him. They saw Henry hiding in the fencerow and asked him to come forward. They asked Henry if he knew the boy and he said he did. They asked him if he would go tell the soldier's family what happened. Henry went to the boy's mother and told her and he said she pulled handfuls of hair from her head while crying. All I know is the boy's last name was Lawhon. I checked Edward Gerdis's site and found 3 Lawhon's but I don't believe they are him as this incident happened in this area. Has anyone ever heard of this story? Thank you in advance.
