Amos F. Curtis

My ggGrandfather, Amos F. Curtis fought for the North and South. First in CSA 14th Powers Infantry (at Battle of Pea Ridge) then with USA 2nd infantry out of Newton County, he continued a military career after the war.
Family tradition states his coat was turned by a broken promise as to how long his enlistment was to last with the 14th and the way civillians in Newton County were harrassed, looted, or murdered by Confederates.
Service records from the CSA for Amos is one piece of the puzzle I have not yet obtained, any information is appreciated.
I am new to this site and love it! Hats off to some of the research I have read so far.
