Puryear

Several of my ancestors left Texas and went back to Arkansas and enlisted, they had come through Arkansas on the way to Texas and had kin there and etc. One of my ancestors, James Granderson Puryear (Granison Pruyear) Co. F, 7th Arkansas Infantry, had a twin brother, Thomas Puryear (Thomas Preyer) Co. G, Shaver's Regiment, 38th Arkansas Infantry. He "Died at Little Rock April 30 1863". I am assuming that he died as a result of wounds received, his twin brother Granderson (Granison) was "Wounded and left at Murfreesboro December 31 1862". He was subsequently imprisoned somewhere (?) until War's end. Please note the spelling of our family name, most of you realize this is a big problem in research, these Boys were in the main illiterate and could neither read nor write, and their names were spelled phonetically, I saw that years later when I was in the Service, some things never change. Any help anyone may be able to give me on the circumstances of Thomas' death, battle name, site, and where buriedd, I realize most were buried in unmarked mass graves, but that is to be expected. Just trying to tie up a few loose ends, Granderson came back to my area of Central Texas (Hays County) and is buried here in our family Cemetery. He suffered with breathing problems all his life, was shot in the chest, and like all others, walked back home from his prison site. Any help will be most appreciated - Grady Puryear, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Hill Country Camp 1938.
