He was promoted to lieutenant-colonel, but when all the Arkansas regiments in his brigade were consolidated into one understrength regiment on April 9, 1865, he was demoted to major of the consolidated regiment, and was paroled as such on May 1, 1865, at Jamestown, North Carolina.
