Hi All, I have had recordings of Harry Belafonte for so many years and the one song from '56 that always grabs my attention is "Cotton Fields" The one line that says, "It was down in Louisana, just a mile from Texarkana". I just looked it up often and it appears to be about 36 miles from Louisiana.....is that correct? My father, A. J. Sykes (from Prescott) spoke so often of Texarkana.
