George Harbour 33rd Ark Inf

George Harbour was a resident of Calhoun County, (between present day Thornton and Bearden). He built the house that was on the farm that my dad bought in 1961. It was built with square nails! He was a member of the 33rd infantry but later deserted and joined the union at Pine Bluff. According to accounts from an elderly man back in the 1960's and other sources as well, Harbour was apparently doing some spy work for the union. In November of 1964, Harbour came to Calhoun County to see his family - some of the men in the community ambushed him between the train stop and his house and killed him. Because he was considered a traitor, the locals would not let him be buried in the local cemetery (Calaway). He is buried on my dad's farm about 100 feet from his house along with his 5 year old daughter who died in '65. Have any of you heard any more details of this?
