my gg grandfather oliver perry davis from polk co. ark. enlisted in the 19th ark. co. k. later said co. d infantry(dawsons) 1862. on his civil war record. said he was awol 7-14-1863 to aug. 31, 1863 . jan. 27, 1864 said he was on a list as being in the cavalry without permission. in 1911 he wrote that he had been a private in brooks' ark. brigade up end of war in 1865. on his pension app. he stated he had been in the 19th ark. infantry until middle of 1863. was this a common thing for the men to change to other outfits?
