** This regiment was organized for State service as the 1st Regiment Arkansas Infantry, Col. P. R. Cleburne. It entered the Confederate service July 23, 1861, and the designation was changed to the 15th Regiment Arkansas by direction of the Secretary of War, dated Richmond, December 31, 1861
