The battle of Pea Ridge occurred on Mar. 7-8, 1862. Is it possible that some of the Confederate wounded were taken back to Van Buren after the battle? I have a cousin that was in McNair's Regiment, CSA, 4th Arkansas Infantry Co. I, (Lafayette Nichols) that died on Mar. 26th, from what I believe is wounds from the battle. Fairview Cemetary in Van Buren list a "L. Nichols" buried there, however, it lists him in Company A of McNair's Regiment. Van Dorn and his army left east after the battle. Anyone know for sure about the Confederate wounded taken back to Van Buren?
