I have been told that there were 125 Arkansas Confederate recruits under a commander named Polk that, for some reason, had been in the state of Kansas in August of 1863. That was followed with the belief that these Ark. recruits were a part of William Quantrill's forces that hit Lawrence, Kansas on August 21, 1863.

Does anyone else know this story and whether it is fact or fiction?? The person that told me cannot remember where he got that information from. Can anyone clarify this??
