Looking for additional information on the original formation of the Yell Rifles. The Edward G. Gerdes Civil War Page list their formation as April 8, 1861, but I think this is probably the date that they mustered at Helena prior to joining the 1st Arkansas, State Troops, (Josey's 15th Arkansas). They are listed as having participated in the seizure of the Little Rock Arsenal Building in February 1861. On a related note, was Cleburne in command of the company in February during the Arsenal crisis or was some one else. Is the April date possibly the date Cleburne was elected captian of the company?
