Inasmuch as he does not appear on subsequent muster rolls, I would assume he did not return to his regiment. It is unusual, however, that on the following muster roll he is not recorded as having been dropped from the rolls, as is recorded in many cases.
On the Company A Muster Roll for the period October 31, 1862 to February 28, 1863, he is recorded Absent without leave, no date specified, he enlisted June 16, 186_ (1862 I would believe) at Fayetteville for 3 years, no other records
