Yes I was thinking along those lines.

With the main Confederate army in full retreat to Arkadelphia and maybe Texas in September 1863, a camp at Waldron would have been way out on a timb that could easily have been sawed off. The destruction of anything that they couldn't immediately carry off would have been very much in order. I don't know how much of a cotton producing area that Waldron would have been in 1863 and how much cotton they may have had on hand but yes had that been something laying around in storage sheds they would have burned it to keep it from falling into federal hands because of its cash value.
