Civil War Diary of Ralph Leland Goodrich

Readers of Arkansas Civil War History may be interested in the newly published diary of Ralph L. Goodrich (1836-1897), a native of New York State, who taught school in South Carolina, Florida, and Arkansas on the eve of the Civil War. He remained in Little Rock throughout the war, except for the 6 months he served with the 6th Arkansas Infantry, Company A ("The Capitol Guards"). Goodrich survived the war, overcame poverty, rose above his battle with alcoholism, and became a respected member of his adopted home of Little Rock.
