Re: Weaver Light Artillery at Pea Ridge
The Weaver Light Artillery was organized in December 1861, and was fitting out and drilling at Fort Smith when the Pea Ridge fight took place. The battery was ordered to meet up with the retreating Confederate army. They encountered Greer's Texas cavalry regiment on the Cove Creek Road, above Oliver's, whose commander ordered the battery to accompany him back to Van Buren. That was as close as the battery got to Pea Ridge. Woodruff mentions it briefly in his 1903 book, "With the Light Guns in '61-'65".
