Re: Confederate Soldiers buried in Illinois

Cook County

“There is a separate listing for over 4200 Confederate soldiers who died at Camp Douglass…..While there are FOUR THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED names on the monument, there were more than SIX THOUSAND bodies buried at the site. Even more were lost being washed out into the lake before being moved, some were sold as cadavers to medical schools and some just got lost to the tide of time.”

Arguably the worst of the war crimes, aside from starving and murdering approximately FIFTY THOUSAND Southern civilians.
