I find that Charles H. Carlton was elected Captian of the "Jefferson Guards", a Volunteer Militia Company of the 24nd Militia Regiment from Jeffereson County on 14 November 1860. Any idea what became of this organization. What Confederate Unit did they wind up serving with?
