In reviewing some records for a member of my family who had been captured at Vicksburg and paroled, I came across a reference I had not noticed previously: in applying for a widows pension his wife had atttached a sworn statement from a man who had served with her husband. He said that he and her husband had left a parole camp in NW Ark. and come to Ozark together for a two weeks leave. This was the first time I recall seeing the term Parole Camp. What can you tell me about them?
