Found an interesting conection. Colonel James Haywood McCaleb, who commanded the 1st Arkansas (30 Day Volunteers, 1861), was also the Colonel Commendant of the 25th Militia Regiment from Lawrence County. Looks like Company G of the 1st Ark (30 day) contained several militia officers. Does anyone know what happened to Colonel McCaleb after the 30 day enlistments expired?
