Re: bridges' and Stirman's Sharpshooters

Bruce, Bridges was wounded on the 4th of February 1864, which is found in several reports. A Mrs Sue Moore will soon publish a document on Bridges' life. She has dug up a lot of previously unpublished data, some from family documents. She has ask that I hold close the location and date till she publishes. I will say, I hope to travel to Jackson in the summer or fall this year. A plaque has been requested from the VA. As you know we are putting pressure on the VA with our finds and request.

Bridges' story from his return to health after being wounded at Corinth, is very interesting and is tied to several characters of that period. Stephen D. Lee gave him his second battalion, during the Siege of Vicksburg. He was protecting Lee and Wirt Adams when he was wounded. There are two stories associated with his death that add to his memory. And he truly lies with heroes. I will publish the work here when Mrs Moore allows it. Send your e-mail to me and I will provide the data for your book.

At one point Phifer with hat in hand is encouraging the troops advancing into the center of Corinth. You may know whether he was wounded, and not available to add more troops to the battle. I do know that Ross commanded his brigade at Hatchie Bridge the next day, another little forgotten fact.
