The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: William P Rodgers Kingston, Ark

It is possible that he was a distant relative of my ggrandfather Adams since his own mother had
been Mary Rodgers. That grouping came out of north Georgia right after the Civil War ended.
One of the Rodgers had come on to Arkansas prior to the Civil War with money to purchase land
for the group, and then the war started and the rest were trapped in Georgia.
My Adams/Rodgers grouping settled south of Pine Bluff on down to Cleveland County.
I have been told, but cannot prove, that the Rodgers name was one the Cherokees used to pass
as White.
So it is very possible that your Wm. P. Rodgers had come out of north Georgia. Of course it is
also possible that the man never was in Georgia.
Good luck.
