There was no soldier by that name in Dockery’s 19th Arkansas Infantry. The closest was T.N. Douglas, enlisted in Company H on 03 Mar 1862 at Caney, AR, left sick in hospital at Memphis. According to his CSR, authorities assumed he died or deserted. Company H originated in Caney TWP, Ouachita County, and the only male Douglas resident in 1860 was Thomas Douglas. If Thomas was the soldier, he made it back home just fine, as evidenced by his appearance in the 1870 Census for Liberty TWP, Ouachita County.

According to the Soldiers and Sailors System, no one by the name of W.M. Duglas/Douglas/Douglass served from Arkansas.
