Re: 17th/1st/35th/22nd Arkansas Infantry Regiment.

Trying to follow this convoluted tale, it appears that the designations 22nd and 35th coincide with the appointment of McCord as Colonel, December 2, 1863

1st Regiment Northwest Arkansas Infantry*

* This regiment was designated at various times as 1st Regiment (Rector's) Arkansas Infantry Northwest Division, Trans-Mississippi District; King's Regiment Arkansas Infantry; McCord's Regiment Arkansas Infantry, and 35th Regiment Arkansas Infantry [Note: This statement is found in Capt. Geo. W. Bennett's file, Co. C]

Record of Events Field & Staff, 35th Arkansas Infantry
Also designated at various times as the 1st Regiment (Rector's) Arkansas Infantry, King's Regiment Arkansas Infantry, McCord's Regiment Arkansas Infantry, and the 22nd Regiment Arkansas Infantry.

35th Arkansas Infantry

Col. H. J. McCord's Regt. was by some authorities known also as the 22nd Regt. [Note: There are no CSRs for a 22nd Ark. Inf.]
