But that is what I AM saying, Co I 4th Ark INf was not a Dallas County company. The men were from Polk County. Co I 3rd Ark was from Dallas Co. and it was not made up of AMI Cadets, but adults from that area around Tulip, under the formere commandant of AMI George Alexander. As I stated, my research shows that AMI ceases as a military school around 1856 but continues as a boys school until start of the war. Military equipment was returned to the state in LR so uniforms, buttons etc could have been reissued to troops mustering at the arsenal in 1861. However, the source material I read this from was not documented, but I do know ALexander and Benton left the institute in 1856. I also can find nothing that states the school was a military school from 1856-61, no records whatsoever are out there to document this either so its a take your pick kind of thing. But due to looking up the names of members of Co I 3rd Ark, the ages prove the majority were not cadets from AMI. There was a Dallas Arkansas which is where the DAllas ARtillery got its name. Can't remember what county but it was not in Dallas County.
