Is it possible that this is a mounted version of the 28th Arkansas Infantry. The 28th seems to drop out of site after the Red River Campaign. It seems that several other infantry units (26th and 30th) were mounted for Price's Raid, is it possible that these men were former member's of the 28th Infantry?
