He (Herrins) does not show up there or in any CSR for any unit. There appears to be no number designation for Carlton's unit. When he was captured in Feb 1864 he was listed by his captors as being from 15th Ark Inf, so perhaps his unit was just forming. His unit was in Slemons brigade in Sept 64 per the OR's, but S.O. 273/8 of Oct 64 orders him to report to mouth of Ark River and report to Gen E K Smith. I find nothing else in OR's on him and the CSR for Carlton's Cav does not even list him. So hard to track Carlton
