THe flag doesn't have enough provenance to say for certain it was a war time flag or even a duplicate of a war time flag so we may not ever know. However, I think you have it correct. the 35th became the 22nd... the 22nd became the 20th and served east of the river. Also, the men fought at Prairie Grove as well as Pea Ridge (where it supposedly behaved badly if my memory serves me correctly...fled the field and left its flag) for battle honors.
