Here is some good info. from Bruce S. Allardice's 2008 "Confederate Colonels: A Biographical Register," pub. by Univ. of Missouri Press on pages 112-3:
"Crabtree, John Wesley. Born Jan. 20, 1827, TN. Reared in Weakley Co., TN. Family moved to Prairie Co. AR, c. 1845. Prewar farmer in Franklin Co., Ar. Md. Sarah M. Stramlet; Clementine Barber. Lt. Company B, 36th AR, June 18, 1862. Assigned to duty as capt. Sept. 1862. "Displayed the greatest intrepidity" at Helena. Lt. Col. 46th AR Mounted Infantry, 1864. Col. 1865. Paroled at Jacksonport, June 1865, as colonel. Postwar farmer in White Co. Died Feb. 14, 1876, Little Rock. Buried Bethesda Cemetery, White Co."
