Rogan was from a Vicksburg/Memphis family, Hart was an Irishman from Memphis, and McNeill a Louisianan whose company had been attached to an AR Cav Bn. All told, the indications are the 30th was raised in Eastern AR, and that at least some of the field officers were buddies of Hindman.
