FIGHTING REPORTED AT COTTON PLANT.
MADISON, Ark., Saturday, May 17.
I arrived here last night from Cotton Plant. We have been fighting at Cotton Plant with some of the Federals, who were advancing on that place to get possession of the telegraph. We had a company of Capt. STEPHENSON's men. After the fighting of Wednesday we found five Federal dead on the field. We killed two men on Tuesday. No casualties on our side. We captured four saddles, two swords, and several navy revolvers. The Federals were still within two miles of Cotton Plant. We intend returning to-day with more force, to give them another fight. We" shall whip them sure.
