Memphis Daily Appeal, CS
LATEST FROM ARKANSAS.

DES ARC, May 25—(Six miles south of Searcy.)— To Gen. J.P. Roane, commanding department of Arkansas.

Yesterday, with one hundred of my men, I attacked the enemy some three or four hundred strong, infantry and cavalry.

I was aided in the attack by Captain Hicks, and fifty men, making my whole force one hundred and fifty.

The battle lasted about three–quarters of an hour.

The enemy’s loss is supposed to be from fifty to one hundred.

Our loss was, in Texan troops, one killed, two wounded and five missing; and Arkansas troops, two killed, and several missing. We had some eight or ten horses killed.

The Federals are laying the whole country waste.

We will remain here, provided you will send me reinforcements, provisions, and ammunition.
E.M. Rogers, Commanding.

P.S. The enemy are again within ten miles of Cotton Plant, and to-day (Sunday) a large number of citizens left to attack them.

The enemy have four guns mounted on the north side of Little Red river at West Point.
