MADISON, Ark., May 28.

EDITORS APPEAL: The Federals—three hundred and fifty strong—paid our village a visit a week ago. They remained in the neighbourhood a few days and then returned to Jacksonport. They did but little damage to the community with the exception of burning the gin house of Mr. E.M. Shettlesworth, with some thirty bales of cotton. They take nothing but what they want for themselves and horses to eat, for which, of course, they pay nothing.

On Saturday, the 10th inst., eight regiments left Jacksonport and Batesville on a forced march for Cape Girardeau. Since that time and they have all been leaving and going North—supposed to be going to Rolla, Missouri. This is reliable. We are in great hopes they are leaving us for good.

A little fight is reported to have taken place on Friday last near Searcy, in White county, in which two hundred Federals are reported killed, with a loss of eight killed and twelve wounded on our part. This I cannot vouch for.
