SKIRMISH ON LITTLE RED RIVER.
—Our latest intelligence from Little Rock comes through Hon. C. B. Mitchel and A. N. Johnson, Esq., Who left there Tuesday 20th. The mails have entirely failed since Monday the 19th on account of high water.
Before these gentleman left the city, official report was received of a skirmish at Little Red River, a few miles beyond Searcy, and about sixty mile's from Little Rock. Two companies of our cavalry (Hick's Arkansas company and the "Ellis Blues" of Parson's Texas Regiment) met a foraging party of the enemy, consisting of about 300. Our troops made the attack, and it was said, killed all the infantry and completely routed the cavalry. Our loss was three killed and five wounded. This comes in a way to be worthy of credit, although details may be altered by subsequent accounts.
Enemy's loss in killed, about 75.
Gentleman who had reached Little Rock from Batesville report that 12 regiments of the enemy had returned and it was presumed intended moving at once for Corinth. About eleven regiments remained in Arkansas in the region of country between Jacksonport and Searcy.-Washington (Ark.) Telegraph.
