Alarm in Crittenden County, Arkansas
MEMPHIS, June 14, 1862.

There is much alarm among the whites of Crittenden county, Arkansas, opposite the city, in consequence of the discovery of a design on the part of several hundred of the negroes of that county to simultaneously run away and present themselves to the Federal commander for protection. There are about four thousand negroes in the county, and only a few hundred whites, some of whom are coming here, not deeming it safe to remain among the negroes.
