Rogers, Benton County, Arkansas
Participant of the raid on Lawrence, Kansas in August 1863, the German settlement raid of Lafayette County, MO. in July 1863, the MARCELLA steamboat raid at Lafayette Co., MO. in September 1863, POSSIBLY at Centralia, MO. in September 1864, surrendered with MANY of Quantrill / Anderson men at Lexington, MO in May 1865. He rode under Quantrill, Dave Poole, Bill Anderson and George Todd.

Samuel Hays
Eureka Springs, I.O.O.F. Cemetery
Eureka Springs, Carroll County, Arkansas
Samuel was recruited by Quantrill Captain, John Jarrette in Lafayette Co., Mo. exactly one week after the Lawrence, Kansas raid. He participated in Quantrill's Baxter Springs, Kansas fight on October 6, 1863.

Joseph Coyl

Gentry, Benton County, Arkansas
Joe is named by well known Quantrill lieutenant, William Gregg as being at the Richfield, Mo. ambush of Missouri Union soldiers with Frank James on May 19, 1863. This same group went from Richfield to Plattsburg, Missouri and took over a Union post before moving on to hideout at the James Farm in Kearney, Missouri. THIS is what led to the well documented event at the James farm where Missouri Union soldiers tortured Jesse and Frank's stepfather, Reuben Samuels and beat up Jesse within an inch of his life and Jesse would vow to join Quantrill's men! Joe is also named on several handwritten lists of Quantrill's men by Warren Welch. He also attended the Quantrill men's reunion in 1898.

Jesse J. Carl

Gentry, Benton County, Arkansas
Jesse has no record of Quantrill fights or battles, but attended the 1908 Quantrill reunion and is listed on a few handwritten Quantrill lists by Warren Welch AND is named in a family letter in Warren Welch's personal letters.

Simeon Welch
Maysville Cemetery
Maysville, Benton County, Arkansas
Simeon is the father of Warren, Lemuel and James Welch and was active with the Quantrill guerrillas. He is named on one handwritten list of Quantrill men by his son, Warren.

Mary Welch
Maysville Cemetery
Maysville, Benton County, Arkansas
Mary is the mother of Warren, Lemuel and James Welch. She helped recover the body of guerrilla, Andy Blunt, prepared and cleaned it for burial. She was also taken into the home of General JO Shelby after Kansas Jayhawkers torched the Welch home.

James Welch

Decatur, Benton County, Arkansas
James is the brother of Warren and Lemuel. No info found on his activity, but he listed on his Confederate pension "Quantrell's Mo. Cav."

Lemuel "Lem" Welch

Maysville, Benton County, Arkansas
Lem is the brother of Warren and James. He was with Warren, Andy Powell and Arch Rockwell for around two to three weeks in Missouri. He was in on at least one skirmish with Federal troops at Greenton Valley, Mo. He attended the 1898 and 1911 Quantrill reunions.

William Gosney
Cherokee City Cemetery (unmarked)
Cherokee City, Benton County, Arkansas
William was with Upton Hays' famous and well known 2nd Missouri Cavalry, Company C. After Hays was killed, it became David Shanks' 12th Missouri Cav. William fought with the Quantrill guerrillas at White Oak Creek, Mo. in August 1862, a couple of days after the battle of Lone Jack, Mo.

Henry Wolfenbarger
Douglas Cemetery
Highfill, Benton County, Arkansas
Henry enlisted with the Mo. Confederacy on August 10, 1862 at Jackson County, Mo. by Gideon Thompson. He fought with the forces of Upton Hays, John Taylor Hughes and Quantrill's guerrillas and the battle of Independence, Mo. on August 11, 1862.
