Des Ark, Arkansas June 5.
GEN. HINDMAND—I have destroyed 650 bales of cotton at Jacksonport; also 80 hogsheads of sugar. Found it is impossible to get a force to co-operate with me, and had to leave on account of low stage of water. No returns from the enemy as to the number of killed and wounded. Enemy retreated at West Point beyond reach.
JOSEPH FRY, C. S. Navy,
Commanding Gunboat Maurepas.
