The Memphis Appeal learns that the Federal gunboat Mound City, Capt. Kelty, run eighty miles up to St. Charles on White River Ark. last week. Here she attacked a Confederate battery of six and twelve pounders. The battery sent a shot through the port hole of the Mound City, exploding the boiler, and sending 150 Yankees to eternity, including the officers on the boat.

A signal flag from one of the boats was mistaken by the troops manning the battery for a flag of truce. A force was in Consequence successfully landed from the transports, who took the battery in the rear, capturing it, together with some thirty prisoners. The battery consisted of some eight guns manned by some 70 or 80 men. We hope soon to be able to announce that Gens. Hindman and Roane have given Col. Fitch such a drubbing as they recently administered to Curtis.
