The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Helena, July 4, 1863

The Battle of Helena was a battle of the American Civil War that was fought on July 4, 1863, at Helena, Arkansas.
Most of us who live in Arkansas and descend from early settlers had someone involved here that day.
Sgt. Pleas Loyd of the 36th Arkansas CSA, my gg grandfather was there along with Solomon Moore, and some of the
Price kin out of White County. Solomon was captured that day and never came home, though he lived until the war ended.
Lt. Frank Vaughn, my great grandmother Temple's double first cousin, was there and was wounded losing his arm that day.
He was later a judge in Pulaski County and was buried at Mt. Holly.
Very proud to be an American with a Confederate heritage-Linda
