I've never of a village in Saline County (1835) named Newport, but Anthony Rushing might know. Newport in Jackson County (1829) is about 100 miles northeast of Little Rock and I know of no village in Jackson County named Benton, and I know of no Village in Hempstead County (1818) by the name of Benton or Newport. Here is one possible answer maybe he died in Newport, Arkansas, Jackson Co. but the family lived or she moved to Saline Co. near Benton and applied for the pension from there. Just a thought.
