Major General James Yell's brick grave location in the Bellwood Cemetery was known. He was among some of the first to be buried in the "New" City Cemetary in 1867. The Cemetery was started in 1864 on the Little Rock Road one mile from the Courthouse to hold mostly Union Dead who were later removed to National Cemeteries. A Veterans Adminstration Marker now marks the Generals Grave.
